Heaven has another angel...

Today we remembered the life of a wonderful woman who was very dear to our family - I shall simply call her Mrs. Joan. She was loved by all who knew her, especially her children and many grandchildren.

She contracted a terminal illness some years ago, but astounded her family (and especially her doctors) by going over and beyond her "expectancy". She was the recipient, blessedly, of a lung transplant a few months ago. However, complications took her life a couple of weeks ago.

Watching her family today was really something special. She and her husband have five children, all grown, with families of their own. They are spread throughout the United States, yet they always have plenty of time for each other. Their love for each other is obvious, and is heartwarming to see.

My own family is not nearly as close as this. We pretend to be, but we aren't, really. Only this afternoon, I learned that my nephew, born in February, was baptized this morning. I had no idea, as I was not asked to attend. Disheartening, for sure.

But I digress.

Mrs. Joan, I know that you are safe in the arms of the angels, and of God Himself. I will miss you, and hope that you knew how much we all loved you... even if we weren't part of your family.
